Exploring the region from a base in Lucerne, you’ll witness some of Switzerland’s most spectacular Alpine scenery, with a tour leader on hand to guide you to the best spots.
You’ll stay in a hotel a stone’s throw from Lake Lucerne, and travel by train to see the local highlights. Ride Europe’s oldest cog mountain railway to the top of Mount Rigi, where you’ll visit a cheese farm and see this dazzling landscape from on high. Learn how to make Swiss chocolate at a local chocolatier, and board a scenic mountain train to the Alpine town of Engelberg. Take a cable car to the top of Mount Titlis, perched above the landscape at more than 3,000m high, and witness its glacial ice, carved with deep, bluish crevasses.
In between explorations, you’ll have free time to wander Lucerne’s medieval Old Town and its historic ramparts, admiring its lush mountain peaks and opal-blue waterfront. Sit back and let the tour leader arrange everything for you, as you take in the best of this captivating region.
