Combining wonderfully wild Zambia with Malawi, ‘the warm heart of Africa’, lining its namesake lake, this special safari is arranged with the prestigious Robin Pope Safaris company, known for its small, luxurious, remote camps, in pristine wilderness areas

Overview

A ‘spoil yourself’ safari, in totally unspoilt landscapes, this exclusive, exceptional journey is full of discoveries; with unrivalled game viewing by vehicle, by boat, and on foot, staying in the splendid lodges and camps of the Robin Pope Safaris. The experience begins in Malawi, a landlocked country but lakeside, with cormorants and fish eagles over the enormous expanse of its eponymous lake, and thrilling wildlife in its wilderness; from cheetahs and waterbucks amid the mighty baobabs and borassus palms of Liwonde National Park; to the resurgent Majete Wildlife Reserve, which, under the auspices of African Parks, reintroduced over 2,500 animals, including plains game and the Big Five, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Zambia, as welcoming as it is wild, and uncrowded except for its teeming wildlife; where spectacular nature matches fiery sunsets with waterways, woodlands and vast open spaces; and the 9,000km2 spread of South Luangwa National Park is home to 400 species of birds, including vast colonies of carmine bee-eaters; and, among sixty species of animals, boasts hippos collecting in hundred-strong crowds, and the world’s highest natural population of leopards.

  • Excellent game viewing
  • Sunset over the Luangwa River
